the rejection

based logics

Since January 2013, Koinè set a course, as a result of a complex process of participatory planning, titled “Workshop of social innovation”.

It allowed Koinè to focus on a series of innovative projects, which aligned with a coherent and systemic plan of transformation, while being independently self-sustainable and feasible. This course stems from an analysis of local needs, and also from the desire to contribute to the development of participatory models and self-management formulas, which respect public rules and embody citizenship rights, which must not be subject to the market.

It is in continuity with the entirety of the innovative actions, which Koinè promoted and concretely realised, in collaboration with several local organizations. It also extended social partnership to these organisations.

Isola che non c'è

Isola che non c’è, a research project that seeks to standardize new typologies of nursery schools capable of delivering high educational standards while offering support to parenting. This experimental project was recognized by the European Union in 2001 as an exemplary case of an entrepreneurial and innovative initiative.

Ricerca sullo sviluppo sociale nei contesti rurali e montani

Ricerca sullo sviluppo sociale nei contesti rurali e montani, participatory research carried out with the University of Pisa for the Regione Toscana, which led to the remodelling of various Fears interventions geared toward social development and toward the improvement of the “LEADER method” in local areas.

Casa di Michele

Casa di Michele, a temporary accommodation for non self-sufficient elderly individuals who require high levels of care for a limited period of time. This project aims to test and model a small residential structure (12 units), which, if integrated with the web of home-care services, will offer opportunities of daytime and residential care during emergency times and/or offer relief to caregivers.

Casa di Pinocchio

Casa di Pinocchio, an integrated residential (8 units) and day-care centre (20 units) for the disabled. The centre is managed directly by Koinè, which participated in the design of the project and invested in the construction of the property; this project is the result of a long process of interaction and collaboration with local organizations, USL, families and entities that constitute the third sector of the geographical area.

Fabbrica di cioccolato, a local service, which provides primary and secondary prevention developed with ASL, which aims to diagnose in advance abnormal psychophysical growth in children under 5.

Percorsi per la vita indipendente

Percorsi per la vita indipendente, a new typology of solution that tackles the problem of housing for people with mental and interpersonal disabilities. It aims to support processes of conservation-achievement-fulfilment of an autonomous lifestyle (or semi-autonomous) for those on their way to enacting (Amartya Sen) in the area of Valdichiana and Valdarno, Tuscany. This is an experimental project sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.

Proiezione territoriale

Proiezione territoriale, a project that aims to integrate the disabled into the local community. It created a Social Contract for the disabled of the Valdarno area (province of Arezzo, Tuscany), which actively involved more than 73 economic and social organizations including some belonging to the third sector. It also generated more than 165 opportunities for integration, socialization, and employment opportunities for disabled youth. The instrument deployed in order to start this new phase is Participative Action Research. It aims to foster a new type of collective intelligence that focuses on the management of common goods, one that includes the wellbeing of disabled people and considers their impediments in accessing an independent lifestyle. This mentality will be applied to all of the services that concern mental health in the area of Valdarno.
